Wow... I saw so many 4 star reviews for Dockers Family Restaurant that I felt guilty giving this place 4 stars so I gave it 5 stars! I've driven by this place tons of times and had a hankering to go in and give it a try one day.... Well yesterday day was the day!
My g/f and I had a busy day planned in East Van... so I googled popular brunch places to go to in the area... Dockers came up. I'm a explorer of sorts; I like to try new things and restaurants...
When I first walked in I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive... Dockers is a bit on the dark and gloomy side interior wise... the chairs and table look like they are a throwback of the 1960's... I guess I'm stating the obvious but Dockers is not as clean and tidy as a 5 star restaurant, but if you take it for what it is... a family owned and run neighbourhood restaurant... you'll be satisfied with what you get!
The first thing you noticed when looking at the menu is the prices are more than reasonable! Goodness.... I go to White Spot a lot and Dockers seems like it's about 25 to 50% cheaper! I saw on their chalk board that they have a breakfast special on the week days for under $7.00! I think an equivalent breakfast at White Spot is double the price?... I don't think I'm too far off!
Ok enough about the value.... I ended up ordering a bacon and cheese burger platter... Yummy!
The portions are generous... more that generous.... After brunch I was so full I didn't eat for another 8 hours! The burger itself was pretty good... really meaty and juicy... Super Delish! What I like most about this place is that nothing is pre made.... we ordered our food and they threw it on the grill right there and than... Nothing is nuked or heated up and served! My hamburger and fries were hot and freshly made...
The staff is pretty friendly... As I was paying I talked to the owner for a bit and told him I like the old time diner feel about this place. He was really nice and friendly... If you're around the neighbourhood give this place a try! It's a well hidden gem in Van City dining! -

We wanted a good family style breakfast and stumbled across this place after reading some of the views. We decided to give it a try.
It was not busy because it was raining outside so this was nice. They have lots of choices to choose from and I decided to eat the french toast platter. It was very tasty and definitely was hitting the spot. All of the food was cooked perfectly. My friend recommended extra crispy bacon and came out excellent! The food came out pretty fast as well. We did not have to wait long at all.
The super sub was really good because the bread was not soggy and the meats were tasty.
Overall we had a great experience! Our server was very friendly and the service was good! I would recommend to stop by if you are in the area. -

I must've deleted my last review of Dockers, or was it posted on one of those mysterious Yelp pages that are duplicates and then quietly disappear into the Twilight Zone? You never know. Anyways, this place seems to have been around since forever, likely a few changes here and there but it is real. It could be one of those places where you could see Muldur munching down on a burger and fries over a conversation about the X-files on a lonely Tuesday night.
The burgers and the breakfast are what you would come here for. I know there are other dishes, but have only limited myself to just ordering those. Maybe it's the time of day.
On the plus side, it's really close to one of my brothers places and it's convenient and consistent.
I love places like this that are no frills and not hip. I can just drop in, order food and kinda disappear into my own thoughts. A place you can dine on your own to ponder about life, and a place you can come with a small group of 4 or less. I wouldn't recommend any more than that.
Coffee refills are consistent and staff are pleasant.
The whole reason why this place rates good for me is that it is real.
Not hipster. I laugh when posting reviews and Yelp has recommendations like: Is it Hipster? You mean is it Hipster friendly?
I can never figure out if Yelp is making fun of this stereotype or not.
Frankly I'm sure that Yelp in HQ started Hipster. Hopefully that has evolved!
Look to our current Community Manager on Yelp, she's cool and not...hipster, more like Instagramatic!
Best time to dine here is in the mornings on a weekday. -

Dockers what can I say about this place. It's been a staple for years and I hope it stays. Try the Hot subs. It's food for the soul. No frills no gimmicks except for the $6.50 breakfast special Monday-Friday. Eggs hash brown toast bacon or sausage damn!! Food look so good I forgot to take pictures.

Love this little diner ! The " Greek" is incredibly good and if you like your typical greasy ( but super tasty) burger this is your place . Greek owners :)
Good servers .
